our mission + treatments

To offer the people of the Lake Macquarie region a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating neuro-musculo-skeletal conditions. To offer support for patients to make informed decisions based on the best available evidence and our clinical expertise, and to do so effectively and affordably.
Chiropractic Treatments
Treatment at Pacific Sport and Spine aims to be specific, safe and clinically effective.

We aim to restore mobility and stability to the spinal and peripheral joints, achieved using manual therapy such as soft tissue therapies, and joint mobilisation and manipulation. Together with establishing and reinforcing correct movement patterns via taping, exercise and practical advice.
Whilst our approach to diagnosing and treating is holistic and multidisciplinary, our standard intervention is joint mobilisation and/or manipulative due to the significant biomechanical and neuromuscular effects, and consequent positive clinical outcomes.
Movement Assessments
A functional movement assessment is a screening tool used to observe limitations in mobility and stability/motor control.

The assessments are designed to expose dysfunctions or pain in several basic movement patterns by placing patients in positions where weakness, imbalances, asymmetries and limitations become noticeable by a trained professional.

This approach is intended to observe patterns and relationships between regions and not just isolate and treat the painful area. As well as teaching corrective movement patterns in a similar development sequence learnt as children.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a hands-on treatment delivered by a qualified professional that manipulates the soft tissues of the body for a specific therapeutic effect.

It uses techniques and movements designed in accordance to the patient’s needs and response and can be used as a stand-alone treatment or a complementary treatment to chiropractic. It assists with the healing process, which begins at the cellular level, aiding soft tissues to repair and restore functional integrity.

Remedial massage can also be used for lifestyle-created conditions for example, repetitive strain injury and back pain, as It effects the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling involves introducing fine, sterile needles into trigger points, joints or tendons.

Trigger points are tender on compression and can give rise to distinctive referred pain; needling these areas directly treats the neuromuscular system affecting muscle tension, and reduces symptoms of pain and irritation.

Its objective is to permanently reduce muscle pain and dysfunction, and to stimulate a healing response in the tissue while reducing biomechanical stress.
Rocktape
Unlike traditional rigid strapping tape that binds and doesn’t stretch, Rocktape is specifically engineered to mimic the properties of the human skin.
It contains viscoelastic properties, meaning it stretches up to 180% of its original length, yet has the ability to recover or return to its original length.
When Rocktape is applied with little or no stretch on the tape but stretch on the tissue, it causes the skin to form convulsions and wrinkle. This creates a biomechanical lift that reduces the tension on the tissue beneath the skin.

This lift changes the tension beneath the skin and improves our proprioception, which can both decrease pain and aid the way we move as well as allow local areas of inflammation to disperse faster.
IASTM
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation or Simply IASTM is a tool that enables practitioners to treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction, and to assist in effective treatment of adhesions and scarring brought on by surgeries, injuries, and overuse of muscles.

These tools are used in conjunction with other treatment modalities to enhance movement and alter muscle tone faster.

They’re primarily designed to treat fascial restrictions, helping improve areas of soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation and degeneration.
